Our team

Joel Wickman

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (Majoring in Exercise Physiology)
  • Master of Occupational Therapy
  • Qualified Autism Spectrum Disorder assessor (ADOS-2)

Joel is an AHPRA registered Senior Occupational Therapist based in Geelong, Victoria. Joel has extensive experience working in a variety of settings ranging from adult inpatient Acquired Brain Injuries in a hospital setting, to community-based paediatrics. Joel is a qualified Autism assessor, and regularly collaborates with Psychologists to ascertain diagnosis. Joel is a passionate and dedicated clinician who strives to achieve the best outcomes from his clients by working closely in a strengths based/client-centred manner. Joel lives in Geelong with his wife and three children and has interests in sport, self-proclaimed foodie, and being outdoors. In Joel’s spare time he volunteers as a CFA firefighter, and enjoys working on house projects.

Patrick Brice (Paddy)

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Paddy has spent the last three years working as a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, specialising in supporting children aged 1-12 with neurodevelopmental conditions. He has worked within a multidisciplinary team and thrives on collaboration, building strong professional relationships with both clients and colleagues. Paddy has a passion for strengths-based, goal-directed therapy, ensuring that all interventions are meaningful and aligned with each individual’s unique needs and aspirations. His approach to therapy is engaging, fun, and highly personalised, considering the physical, cognitive, and communication needs of each client.
Paddy will be will be expanding his expertise to work with adolescent and adult clients at Function Focus Allied Health, applying his skills to support individuals across a broader age range. He is eager to bring his dynamic and client-centred approach to this new population, ensuring that interventions continue to be engaging, functional, and tailored to promote independence and confidence in daily life.
Outside of work, Paddy enjoys keeping active, whether on the footy field or in the pool, and values spending quality time with friends

Sophie Milsome

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Sophie is an Occupational Therapist who graduated with distinction from Deakin University, Geelong. She has experience supporting clients across a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, community, and hospital environments. Sophie also previously worked as a Therapy Assistant and Support Worker, providing tailored support to adolescents and adults in the Geelong region, which helped shape her collaborative and client-centred approach.
Sophie enjoys working with people across the lifespan to help them increase their independence and achieve their unique goals. She has experience supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as a diverse range of physical and mental health conditions, and is passionate about making therapy fun, engaging, and adaptable to suit each person’s needs. She believes that every goal matters, no matter how big or small, and works closely with clients and families to develop practical strategies that fit their everyday life. Building strong relationships is at the heart of Sophie’s practice, and she takes a hands-on, active approach in sessions to keep therapy motivating and practical.
Outside of work, Sophie loves staying active through running and taking her black labrador Oakley for walks around the Barwon River. She enjoys camping and hiking adventures, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on the Geelong Cats during footy season.

David Rittinger

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Occupational Therapy
  • Masters of Primary School Education

David is an Occupational Therapist who enjoys working with children, adults and their families to ensure they reach their full potential, build on their strengths and provide them with skills to live a happy and positive life. David has over 30 years of experience working in paediatrics and disability in a variety of settings including Special Development Schools, Early Intervention Services, private practice and various specialist settings in both Australia and England. He believes that everyone should be given the opportunity to reach any goal they wish to strive for, and that learning happens best when in a fun, safe and supportive environment. David believes building a strong and trusting relationship with those he works with and their families greatly enhances positive outcomes. He likes to work collaboratively with the people he works with to reach these goals.

David leads a busy life at home with his wife and four children. He is actively involved in coaching basketball, and playing when he gets the chance. He is an avid St Kilda fan, and loves travel, camping, caring for his dogs and spending time with friends and family.

Lucy Rimmer

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Lucy is a dedicated occupational therapist with a strong passion for supporting children, adults, and their families. She brings extensive experience from her work in the private sector as an occupational therapist, therapy assistant, and support worker. Lucy works collaboratively with parents, teachers, caregivers, and other professionals to provide meaningful, practical strategies that help individuals learn, grow, and thrive across all stages of life.

She is particularly interested in understanding each person’s unique occupations and learning styles, with a focus on enhancing participation in everyday activities. Lucy is also committed to deepening her expertise in play-based learning and trauma-informed care, ensuring her approach is both engaging and sensitive to individual needs. Central to her practice is the belief that strong, trusting relationships are key to effective and lasting outcomes.

Outside of her professional life, Lucy loves shopping—especially when it comes to discovering the perfect outfit, as she believes you can never have too many clothes. She is also the team manager for a local netball team, St Mary’s, and takes great pride in supporting the players on game days during the winter season. Weekends are often spent socialising with friends and family, which she values as an important part of maintaining a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

Lily Stacey

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Lily is an Occupational Therapist at Function Focus Allied health. Lily has experience working with children in a school-based setting, as well as in adult sub-acute and community-based hospital settings.

Lily is passionate about working to support children and their families to improve their overall wellbeing. She aims to provide client-centred practice that optimises independence and allows clients to reach their full potential. Lily is eager to continue to learn and grow in this field to ensure she provides the best support possible to both clients and their families.

In her spare time, Lily enjoys being active, cooking sweet treats, watching tv shows and spending time with friends and family.

Sarah Smek

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Sarah has completed a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Distinction from Deakin University. She is passionate about supporting children and their families to achieve meaningful goals and thrive within their everyday environments. Sarah has experience working across a range of settings, including in primary schools, where she supported children with diverse behavioural challenges and emotional needs.

Sarah values building strong, collaborative relationships with children and their families to ensure they feel heard, understood and supported. She is passionate about delivering strengths-based, individualised therapy that is engaging, fun and tailored to each child’s unique interests and goals.

Sarah is committed to creating a safe, positive and inclusive therapy environment where children feel comfortable to be their authentic selves and supported to reach their full potential. She values ongoing learning and professional development to continually enhance her practice and provide the best possible support to children and their families.

Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time at the beach, connecting with loved ones, and playing with her Labrador, Bruno.

Jed Woods

Qualifications:

Studying Bachelor of Occupational Therapy

Certificate III in Education Support

Jed is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy at Deakin University in Geelong.  Jed has experience working in both primary and secondary school-based settings, where he has supported children with additional needs and behavioural challenges.

Jed is passionate about challenging himself and collaborating with Occupational Therapists to deliver personalised, meaningful support. He values learning through experience and strives to create positive, engaging environments that promote each client’s growth and independence.

In his spare time, Jed loves to get out on the golf course, have a kick of the footy, and spend time with friends and family.
